The much-awaited Football Manager 25 will not see the light of day, as Sports Interactive has officially announced its cancellation. Initially set for an early November launch, the game faced multiple delays before the developers ultimately decided to halt its release altogether.
Originally, the game was scheduled for early November, but due to a challenging development process, its launch was pushed back to later that month. In October, another delay was announced, raising concerns among fans. Now, Sports Interactive has decided to cancel the release entirely. Customers who pre-ordered the game will have the option to request a refund. Meanwhile, the developers assure fans that they are fully committed to delivering a strong next installment.
In an official statement, Sports Interactive explained: “After thorough internal discussions and careful deliberation with SEGA, we have reached the difficult conclusion to cancel Football Manager 25 and focus our efforts on the next edition. We deeply appreciate the trust and support from those who pre-ordered FM25, and we sincerely apologize for this outcome. Communicating this decision took time, but today was the earliest possible moment we could share the news.”
The company emphasized its dedication to providing top-tier gaming experiences, ensuring value for money and countless hours of entertainment. With FM25, they aimed to introduce the most significant technical and visual upgrades in the franchise’s history, setting the stage for a new era.
“While we could have launched FM25 as it stood and addressed issues post-release, we felt that wouldn’t align with our standards. Additionally, delaying the launch beyond March was not a viable option, as it would have come too late in the football season for players to justify purchasing another installment later in the year.”
By canceling FM25, the team can now channel all their efforts into making the next release the best it can be. “We will provide updates on our progress as soon as we can,” the statement concluded. “We understand this news is disappointing, especially given the previous delays and anticipation for the first gameplay reveal.”
