PDP supporters who were believed to be loyalists to Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminialayi Fubara clashed with FCT Minister, Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike’s supporters at the PDP Secretariat in Port Harcourt.
The uprising resulted in several shots being fired around the PDP Secretariat on Friday, 31st January 2025. While several people believe the shots were fired by the security operatives in the building, some others say it was the work of thugs.
Sources reveal that the supporters of the Rivers state governor were chased out by security personnel after the court victory and that they made an attempt to reclaim the office on Friday. On the same day, supporters of the FCT minister and former governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike, stormed the area. With the two loyalists group meeting each other, there appared to be a serious clash and gunshots fired.
There is no report of anyone injured by the gunshots, and the public believes those shots were fired to diffuse the situation and bring calm.
