The Phoenix Suns shopped Durant at the trade deadline, and they’re expected to trade him this offseason, per ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.
Let’s take a look at a few options:
๐ Golden State Warriors
The Warriors and Suns were close to sending Durant back to Golden State – before KD said no, per Shams.
Durant later cleared the air on why:
“I just didnโt want to get traded midway through the season. It was nothing against my time with the Warriors, or I heard because I donโt like Draymond.”(via ESPN)
Does that mean a Steph-KD reunion could still happen? Possibly.
๐ Houston Rockets
According to Hoops Wire’s Sam Amico, the Rockets are expected to pursue a trade for Durant this offseason.
Last summer, Houston loaded up on picks with the pursuit of Durant in mind, per ESPN.
They could make that a reality this summer – and supercharge a core of young players that have taken the NBA by surprise this year.
๐ Dallas Mavericks
After the Luka trade, The Athletic reported that Dallas had “dreams” of adding KD to a team with Kyrie and AD.
That could happen this offseason.
Next season, the trio would be 32 (AD), 33 (Kyrie), and 37 (KD) – but they’d have a shot at contention, and a chance to re-energize the Mavs’ fan base.
